The other kinds of music; classical, jazz, easy listening, country, folk etc., are marketed as minority interests, but rock defines the musical mainstream. Over the last half of the century it became the most inclusive of musical labels that everything can be rocked.

American psychedelic rock is best known for its biting political lyrics, soaring harmonies and hallucinogenic titles. It was an important standard bearer for the counterculture in the 1960s and it had many hits in its later incarnations.

Psychedelic music has it's root in the sixties. But since than, many tunes have been composed and many musicians and fans still live with the old ideals. Also young people share our love for strange tunes and try to expand their mind with the help of music. The sound became more dynamic and more electronic I think. There are many different kinds of psychedelic music from dreamy fairy tales to hard stoner. Just ambient and trance will not be covered here even though these styles declare themselves psychedelic.
